Lichen is a natural material which is used in diorama projects or railroad layouts to
simulate unkept, brushy areas. It is available in several colors suitable for many different
looks.
The lichen moss is broken off in clumps and fastened to the layout using white craft glue or
similiar material. It may be used in conjucntion with other landscaping materials for more
realism. Lichen may be used to hide the bottoms of buildings on a layout or junctions
of different sections.

Lichen moss tends to dry out with age. Under normal humidity conditions this may not be
problematic, but if you live in areas of very low humidity the lichen may dry out enough
to disintegrate at a mere touch. Extreme drying can be remedied with occassional misting
with water.
