![]() If you are a hobbyist or crafter and do a lot of painting, perhaps an airbrush would be an investment worth considering. If you have been depending on spray paint to give your models and craft projects that clean, brush-mark free look, an airbrush will greatly extend your color range, while giving you more control over spray width and paint flow. Airbrushes aren't expensive, and there are lots of accessories and equipment to make painting faster and more fun. The Aztec A220 is the ideal beginners airbrush. While it will not do detailing, it is great for painting model car bodies, applying primer and acrylic varnishes and sealers over large coverage areas. It features quick color change and fast clean-up. The airbrush uses a compressor, or canned airbrush propellant to power the paint flow. Hobbyists and crafters wanting to do detail work with an airbrush will find the Aztec A270 airbrush to be a good step up from the A220. While also featuring fast color change and quick clean-up, the easy to adjust controls make the A270 one of the easiest to learn to use. It also includes three different nozzles to greatly extend the types of paint to be used - fine, medium, and large. The fine nozzle is used for detail work with hobby paints. The medium and large nozzles are used for broader coverage uses, and can also be used with thicker craft and fabric paints. This airbrush, with the proper equipment, can also be used for stenciling projects and creating tie-die effects on T-shirts. The hobbyist/crafter has two choices for powering the airbrush. Casual users will find airbrush propellant adequate. This is a specially formulated propellant which contains ingredient designed to not harm the ozone layer. Aztec airbrush hoses have fittings compatible with the threads of all major manufacturers of airbrush propellants. Prolonged use of the propellant will cause a pressure drop because of cooling of the propellant in the can. This can be alleviated by placing the can in a pan of room temperature water. Frequent airbrush users will find the purchase of a compressor to be more cost effective, and will provide a more consistent flow of air. There are a number of airbrush compressors on the market, and any of the leading brands can be a useful addition to your workshop. Aztec airbrushes include an airbrush adaptor which will work with any suitable airbrush. Both the Aztec A220 and the A270 are available in sets which include a helpful video which gives a lot of tips for airbrush use. The video is about twenty minutes in length, and detail several projects and ideas to get you started. There are other accessories available to make using an airbrush easier and more enjoyable. A spray booth is manufactured by Testors which has an exhaust fan, filtration system, and vents through a window to the outdoors. Hobby masking tape, parafilm, quick connect jars, and airbrush cleaners are all useful equpiment to make your hobby or craft projects easier. ![]() To Check Availability and Purchase Products Featured Here Visit Our Ebay Store Plum Creek Toy and Hobby |
